Meet our doctors:
Dr. Convertino has been practicing Optometry since 2004. He took over the Vision Centers in North Fort Myers in April 2010 and Port Charlotte in March 2012. He received his Bachelors degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He then attended Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and earned his degree in Optometry. Dr. Convertino then went on to complete an Ocular Disease Residency in Gainesville, Florida at the Malcom Randall VA Hospital. Dr. Convertino is among a small percentage of Optometrists to earn the distinction FAAO (Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry). His paper on Ocular Disease was published in Review of Optometry (2007). In 2015, Dr. Convertino moved his Port Charlotte location to Fort Myers Beach and opened a 3rd office in Estero, Florida. In 2016, Dr. Convertino opened a 4th location in LaBelle, Florida.
Dr. Convertino now provides full scope optometric care using state-of-the-art equipment – Advanced Imaging Technology SD-OCT (Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography), Anterior and Posterior Segment Imaging (retinal photography), Humphrey Visual Fields, etc., and provides Cataract evaluation and co-management, LASIK consultation, and emergency office visits.

A native of Miami, Florida, Dr. Samuel A. Kaler earned his BA from the University of Florida, complet-ed post graduate studies at the University of South Florida, and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in Houston, TX. He is a member of the Southwest Florida, Florida, and American Optometric Associations.
Dr. Kaler chose optometry because he wanted to help people and has been practicing in Southwest Florida since 1987. He was a participating doctor in the Autonomous Laser Vision Correction FDA study. He has served as an examiner for the Optometry Clinical Examination for the Florida Depart-ment of Health, and helped charter the Estero-Fort Myers Lions Club. Dr. Kaler’s specialties include Primary Care and Contact Lens Evaluations and Fittings.
Dr. Kaler has extensive experience in primary eye care, contact lenses, and ocular disease detection, treatment and management.
In his leisure time, he enjoys photography, reading, and following his favorite sports teams.
